HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Vintage look for jewelry with mixed metals is some of my favorite.
The delightful magazine Jewelry Affair features rosary necklaces with mixed metals.
Necklace below was made using one of my image beads and a rhinestone jeweled toggle clasp. Silver and antique silver metals.

Day 8
Spring Fever

Rainy and gloomy weather had me thinking of ways to get the feeling of Spring again.

Lovely new bird images did the trick. I hope the earrings pictured below will bring joy and sunshine into your day : )

Day 7

Bead embroidery cabochons. If you love beading and haven't tried bead embroidery, you really should give it a try. There are some wonderful books with step by step instructions.

The photos below are images under glass with intricate beading around the edge using delicas and peyote stitch pattern. This is very addictive.

The secret to perfect peyote, in my opinion is even count when beading the base row. I always pick up 2 beads on the needle when beading the base row, then pick up 1 bead to do the peyote stitch.
Once 3 rounds are complete, number 15/0 seed beads are used to tighten up the stitch and also for a decorative accent.

Day 6
This is a great video from you tube on how to wire wrap a briolette.

Wrapped briolette drops make great dangles for earrings, necklaces and bracelets. It is a bit tricky and takes some practice, but once you learn this important technique, it can be used in so many of your designs.

Earrings below have a cascade of wrapped loop dangles on a jump ring. The wrapped briolette is in the center of jump ring with dangles on each side.

Earrings below are made using the same technique.

The earrings below were made using shell spikes. The wrapped
wire is under the bead caps by Vintaj. The picasso beads on this pair are divine.

Day 4 Mother Mary Bracelet and Earrings

Beautiful picasso beads. If you aren't familiar with picasso beads, read the description below of how they are hand formed and cut.

The picasso finish beads are pressed into the shapes, then fire polished, which is to subject them to high heat for a short time to melt just the very outer layer of glass to make them smooth, or polished. They were subjected to various heated gasses from metals to get the molted coating, then hand cut and faceted.

Day 2 of the new blog.

How to open and close a jump ring.

Someone suggested I start from the beginning with the bead instructions. The first thing I learned to do many years ago was the simple loop on top of a bead.

The instructions back in the day, were from pictures in the back of a bead magazine. This video is so simple and shows exactly what to do.

With a little practice, you will be making perfect loops. If your first few loops are not to your liking, just clip the head pin off and do it again. Good luck : )

A wrapped loop is a little more tricky, but with some practice, you will love making them. The more you do, the better they get : )

Isn't this the sweetest bird image! LOVE birds and had to make a simple pair of earrings using the image.

Notice the bead loops. Both simple loops and wrapped loops were used on this pair of earrings.
